Mission in Nepal

Nepal Teachers Training Innovations (NTTI) focuses on encouraging teaching that develops critical and creative thinking in often remote areas of Nepal. It was founded by Ashley Hager, a young American woman. Both our Missions Committee and the UMW have contributed funds toward the program.

Call to Mission

CCUMC has always strived to be a mission centered community of faith. Whether it’s a dental program in Nicaragua or a homeless shelter in DC, we always do our best to step into the gap with our money, time and talents. There’s no question mission is big at our church.

Ashley Hager, Director of NTTI and recent graduates.

Amazingly enough, NTTI has trained more than 600 teachers establishing partnerships with 35 schools reaching over 48,000 students. NTTI focuses on encouraging teaching that develops critical and creative thinking. Teachers learn how to develop nurturing, child-friendly learning environments without using methods of corporal punishment which have previously been standard.

NTTI has joined with the Girls Education and Empowerment Project (GEEP)which conducts empowerment workshops for girls ages 10 to 14 and teaches health, nutrition, safety, leadership skills and self-advocacy. This program prevents girls from becoming victims of early marriage, domestic abuse and sex trafficking.
