WESLEY SEMINARY INTERN BEGINS SEPTEMBER 13TH

Megan CrummWe are very pleased to welcome Megan Crumm to our ministry team this fall. Megan is a second-year student at Wesley Seminary and a certified candidate for ordination in the Detroit Annual Conference. She has been on mission trips to Brazil, Kenya and Bulgaria and studied in India for five months. She also spent three years as a member and writer of the Strangely Warmed Players Drama Troupe at the First United Methodist Church of Ann Arbor, Michigan. Megan feels a strong desire to be in pastoral ministry when she graduates from seminary. During her two years at Chevy Chase U.M.C. Megan will experience all aspects of the pastoral ministry as she fulfills her Practice in Ministry and Mission requirement. We look forward to having this talented and committed seminarian on our church staff.

WE HAVE A NEW DIRECTOR OF CONGREGATIONAL MINISTRIES AND PROGRAMS

Carol and familyCarol Armstrong-Moore started at CCUMC on August 1, 2008. Carol is a clergy member of the Baltimore-Washington Conference on Honorable Location (this means her ordination rights are intact, but she is not subject to an Episcopal appointment). Prior to coming to CCUMC she lived for 15 years in Tempe, Arizona with her husband Wayne. Her twin boys were born there. Carol grew up in Cheverly, MD and has been a pastor at several churches in the Baltimore area. She also has been part of mission teams to Nicaragua and served a two-year mission term through the Board of Global Ministries in Argentina. While in Tempe she was on the staff of Motorola University. She currently is pursuing a PhD in Philosophy and Religion specializing in education.


WELCOME MAURA KENERSON!

Maura brings a wealth of church experience to the position, having served for 5 years as administrative assistant to the pastors at New York Avenue Presbyterian Church, Christ Episcopal Church and St. Francis Episcopal church in similar positions. She has solid computing skills, including publishing and database, and is bilingual in Spanish and English. She is a solid team player, a self-starter, and well-organized with a most pleasant and gracious demeanor.
